With global warming, the loss of regional diversity and fossil fuel issues now a real concern, it’s surely time to start thinking long term and acting now.  Following government pressure to convert solid fuel burners to gas some years ago, we are now being asked to change back to good old-fashioned wood – a reliable, local and sustainable resource that not only has the capacity to heat our homes but also cook our food, feed our livestock, improve our air, soil and water, provide a valuable carbon sink, enclose our property, provide furniture, tools, utensils, timber for building…  the list goes on.
